The webxdc show

How the show is made

webxdc in Matrix

A webxdc app is a zip file with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It has no internet access; the only thing it can do is send small updates to the chat it lives in, and receive everyone else's. The webxdc widget is a Matrix widget that runs such apps: the app's updates become end-to-end encrypted events in the room, each app runs on a separate origin under a strict content security policy, and WebRTC is removed from every app page so nothing leaks around it.

The demos

Every clip is recorded live: fresh accounts on the Black Pony Club Matrix server, an encrypted room with the app pinned as a widget, and one real Element Web window per person, driven by a short script per app (Playwright). The windows are recorded, cropped to the app and composed side by side with ffmpeg, with captions and a title card.

The music

The opening theme, the stinger and the background loops are composed in code: a small synthesizer (oscillators, filters, drums, delay and reverb) renders them from note data. No samples, no licences.

Per app

Each app has its own directory in the show's repository: its description, the demo script, screenshots and the raw recordings, so a better video engine can re-render everything later.
